JOHN 16:12-15 GOD LEADS US STEP BY STEP

Year A, Wednesday of the Sixth Week of Easter

Jesus says something very honest to His disciples today: “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.” That sounds very human. Sometimes we want all the answers immediately. We want to know why things happen, what the future holds, and how everything will turn out. But often, life does not work that way. God usually leads us step by step.

Looking back, we can often see this in our own lives. There were moments we thought we could never handle—but somehow we grew through them. Not because we were strong alone, but because God slowly guided us forward.

Jesus promises the Holy Spirit will continue to guide His disciples “to all truth.” Not all at once, but gradually. And that is important for us. We do not need to understand everything today. We do not need to carry tomorrow’s burdens already. Faith is learning to trust that God will give us the light and strength we need when the time comes.

The challenge is patience. We want clarity now. But God often works slowly, quietly, and deeply within us. And maybe that is how real growth happens.

Question to ponder today: Can I trust God enough to let Him guide me one step at a time, even when I do not see the whole path ahead?
