JOHN 16:23B-28 A CLEARER WAY TO THE FATHER
Year A, Saturday of the Sixth Week of Easter
Jesus continues to prepare His disciples, and today He speaks with great clarity and confidence about prayer: “Whatever you ask the Father in my name, He will give you.”
At first, this sounds like a simple promise—ask and receive. But in real life, we know it is not that automatic. We pray, we wait, we sometimes struggle to understand what is happening.
So what does Jesus mean? He is not speaking about getting everything we want, but about trusting that the Father truly hears us through Him. Prayer is no longer distant or uncertain. It is a relationship—through Jesus, we are close to the Father.
Then Jesus says something very important: “The Father Himself loves you.” Not because we are perfect, but because we belong to Christ.
This is where faith becomes very personal. God is not far away, observing from a distance. He is involved in our lives, even when we don’t fully understand His timing.
Jesus also reminds the disciples that He came from the Father and is returning to the Father. In other words, the direction of our life is not confusion, but communion—coming from God and going back to Him.
So even in ordinary struggles, prayer is not just words—it is trust. It is bringing our lives into the hands of a Father who already loves us.
Question to ponder today: Do I pray with confidence that the Father truly loves me and listens to me through Jesus—or do I still pray with doubt and distance?
