JOHN 15:18–21 STANDING FIRM WHEN IT’S NOT EASY
Year A, Saturday of the Fifth Week of Easter
Jesus says something very real today: “If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.”
These are not easy words. We prefer a faith that is comfortable, accepted, and appreciated. But Jesus is honest—following Him will not always be easy or understood.
In our daily life, this may not look like persecution, but we feel it in smaller ways. When we choose honesty in a dishonest environment. When we stand for what is right, even if others don’t agree. When we try to live our faith quietly, but seriously—and feel out of place.
It can be uncomfortable. Sometimes even discouraging.
But Jesus reminds us: you are not alone in this. If you feel misunderstood or rejected at times, you are walking a path He Himself walked.
And this is the challenge—to stay faithful, not only when it is easy, but also when it costs something.
Because our identity does not come from the approval of others, but from belonging to Him.
Question to ponder today: When living my faith becomes uncomfortable, do I step back—or do I stay faithful to Jesus?
