JOHN 10:22–30 HELD SECURE IN HIS HANDS
Year A, Tuesday of the Fourth Week of Easter
In today’s Gospel, people ask Jesus to speak clearly: “Tell us plainly.” They want
certainty, something they can fully understand and control.
We are not very different. In daily life, we want clear answers — about our future, our
struggles, our decisions. We ask God, “Just show me clearly.”
But Jesus points them in another direction. He says, look at what I do… listen to my
voice. Faith is not always about having all the answers. It is about recognizing His
presence and trusting Him.
Then He says something deeply comforting: “My sheep hear my voice… I give them
eternal life… no one can take them out of my hand.”
That is something we need to hear. Because life can feel uncertain. We worry about
losing control — of situations, relationships, even ourselves.
But Jesus reminds us: our security is not in how strong we are, but in whose hands
we are in. And His hands do not let go.
Even when we feel weak, confused, or distant — He still holds us.
Question to ponder today: In the middle of my uncertainties, do I trust that I am
truly safe in the hands of Jesus?
