JOHN 14:21–26 A QUIET PRESENCE WITHIN

Year A, Monday of the Fifth Week of Easter

In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks about something very deep, but very simple: “Whoever loves me will keep my word… and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.”

That is a beautiful promise—God does not stay far away. He comes close. He makes His home within us.

But we often expect God to show up in big, visible ways. Instead, He comes quietly—through our conscience, through a gentle thought, through a moment of peace, or even a small push to do what is right.

Jesus also speaks about the Holy Spirit—the helper who teaches and reminds us. In daily life, we forget, we get distracted, we lose focus. But God is patient. He keeps guiding us from within.

The challenge is this: are we listening? Our lives are full of noise—worries, plans, distractions. It becomes easy to miss that quiet presence.

Yet, in the middle of ordinary life, God is there—guiding, reminding, staying close.

Question to ponder today: In the busyness of my day, do I make space to listen to the quiet voice of God within me?
