JOHN 14:27–31a A DIFFERENT KIND OF PEACE

Year A, Tuesday of the Fifth Week of Easter

Jesus says today, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”

We all want peace. But usually, we think of peace as everything going well—no problems, no stress, no worries. And in real life, that rarely happens. There is always something: family concerns, health issues, responsibilities, uncertainty about the future.

That is why Jesus adds something important: “Not as the world gives do I give it.”

His peace is different. It is not the absence of problems, but a quiet strength within us, even in the middle of them. It is the ability to face life without being overwhelmed.

But this peace is not automatic. We often hold on to fear, control, and worry. We try to manage everything ourselves.

Jesus gently invites us to let go—little by little—and trust Him. Not because everything is clear, but because He is with us.

That is where real peace begins.

Question to ponder today: What am I holding on to that is taking away my peace—and am I willing to trust Jesus with it?
