LUKE 2:36–40 FAITHFUL WAITING, QUIET JOY
Year A, Tuesday, December 30 - 5th Day in the Octave of Christmas
In today’s Gospel, we meet Anna, a prophetess who has spent many years in prayer, fasting, and faithful service in the Temple. Like Simeon, Anna is a person of waiting—but her waiting is not empty or passive. It is filled with hope, trust, and deep attentiveness to God’s presence.
When Anna sees the child Jesus, she immediately recognizes that God’s promise is being fulfilled. Her response is simple and profound: she gives thanks to God and speaks about the child to all who are waiting for redemption. From a life shaped by prayer and perseverance flows joy, gratitude, and witness.
During this Christmas Octave, Anna reminds us that God often comes to us quietly, in ordinary moments, and that a faithful heart is able to recognize Him. True joy is born not from noise or excitement, but from a life rooted in prayer and trust. As we continue celebrating Christmas, may we, like Anna, learn to wait faithfully and rejoice when God reveals His saving work in our lives.
Question to Ponder: How am I cultivating a prayerful heart that is attentive to God’s presence and ready to rejoice in His work?
With Love and Prayers
