John 7:1–2, 10, 25–30 WHEN GOD’S TIME IS RIGHT
Year A, Friday of the Fourth Week of Lent
In today’s Gospel, Jesus chooses not to make His presence and message immediately known. He waits, traveling quietly and acting at the
right time. The crowds are confused. Some say, “Is this not the man they are trying to kill?” Others wonder about His origins and authority.
Jesus teaches us an important lesson: God’s timing is perfect, even when ours is impatient. In our own lives, we often want quick solutions
— instant answers to our struggles, immediate recognition of our efforts, or fast relief from pain. Yet, like the people in Jerusalem, we can
become frustrated or doubtful when things do not happen according to our schedule.
Lent is a season that reminds us to trust in God’s timing. Healing, transformation, and grace often come gradually. Jesus shows
that patience is not passive; it is an active trust in God’s plan. He is in control, and His word cannot fail.
Today’s Gospel also challenges us to reflect on our expectations. Do we focus only on the “how” and “when” in life, or do
we trust that God’s presence is always working in ways we might not immediately see? Following Christ requires faith,
courage, and the willingness to wait while staying attentive to God’s guidance.
Our Lenten journey invites us to trust, to let go of impatience, and to cooperate with God’s timing in our hearts, our relationships,
and our daily choices.
Question to Ponder: Where in my life is God asking me to trust His timing rather than forcing my own schedule?
