Signs of a Nearer Kingdom

Year C, Friday, 34th Week in Ordinary Time

Jesus invites us today to open our eyes—not just to see the world, but to really notice it. Just as the soft budding of a tree quietly announces that spring is close, the gentle signs around us reveal that God is far nearer than we imagine.

We often expect God to speak through thunder or miracles, yet He is already whispering in the small things:

in a shift of perspective, in a moment of peace after a long day, in a silent tug of the heart toward what is good.

When life feels chaotic or uncertain, Jesus does not want us to panic—He wants us to pay attention. Because even our struggles, our challenges, and our unexpected moments of grace are signs that God’s Kingdom is drawing near.

The Kingdom is not only a promise for tomorrow—it is breaking into our today. Even when we feel tired, overwhelmed, or unsure of the next step, God is gently planting new growth within us. His Word, strong and unchanging, becomes the anchor that steadies us when everything else feels temporary or fragile.

So today, let us look at our lives with renewed eyes—our relationships, our responsibilities, our joys, and even our frustrations—and ask ourselves: Where might God be quietly moving, gently speaking, or lovingly drawing near?

Question to Ponder: Where do I notice signs—however small—that God’s Kingdom is growing in my life right now?
