Luke 10:21-24 Rejoicing in the Secret of God’s Wisdom
Year A, Tuesday of the 1st Week of Advent
In today’s Gospel, Jesus rejoices in the Spirit and thanks the Father for revealing His truths to the simple and humble, while the wise and learned may miss them. As we journey through Advent, this moment reminds us that hope often comes quietly, to those who have hearts open and trusting. Maranatha—Come, Lord Jesus! invites us to welcome the hidden treasures of God, not through human pride, but through humble awareness.
Jesus shows us that the greatest joy is not in power, prestige, or recognition, but in discovering that God’s Kingdom is near, and that we are invited to participate in it. There is a wonder in seeing God’s plan unfold, even if it seems hidden or mysterious to the world. This Advent, we are called to be awake, alert, and attentive to these small, quiet ways God reveals Himself in our lives.
Perhaps we search for God in grand gestures, big successes, or dramatic signs. Yet Jesus teaches us that true revelation often comes in simplicity, in the everyday moments, in children’s laughter, in acts of kindness, and in hearts that are ready to receive Him. The disciples were amazed at what they saw, and Jesus reminds us that this amazement is a gift: the joy of encountering God’s presence in ways we might not expect.
Hope grows when we recognize that God is always working behind the scenes, bringing about His plan even when we cannot fully see it. Maranatha! is the cry that acknowledges our longing and invites God to continue unveiling His mysteries to us. This week, let us open our eyes, ears, and hearts to the wonder God offers, rejoicing in His wisdom and celebrating the hope that Advent brings.
Question to Ponder: What simple signs of God’s presence am I noticing today, and how can I respond with joy and gratitude?
