MARK 3:7-12 CALLED TO PROTECT LIFE

Year A, Thursday of the 2nd Week in Ordinary Time

Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

In today’s Gospel, large crowds come to Jesus, drawn by His power to heal and restore. People press in from every direction, seeking life, hope, and freedom from suffering. Jesus does not turn them away. He welcomes them, heals them, and shows that every life matters in the eyes of God.

This scene reminds us that Jesus is always on the side of life. Wherever there is weakness, vulnerability, or pain, Christ draws near. On this Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children, the Gospel invites us to remember those who cannot speak for themselves—the unborn, whose lives are fragile and often unseen.

To follow Jesus is not only to admire Him, but to share His compassion. We are called to protect life, defend dignity, and show love in concrete ways—through prayer, advocacy, and care for mothers, fathers, and families in need. In Christ, every life is sacred, valued, and loved.

Question to Ponder: How am I being called to witness to the dignity of every human life, especially the most vulnerable?
