John 3:31–36 TRUSTING THE ONE WHO COMES FROM ABOVE
Year A, Thursday of the Second Week of Easter
In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist points clearly to Jesus and reminds us of a simple but
powerful truth: Jesus comes from above. He is not just another teacher or prophet—He is
sent by God, and His words carry truth and life. This invites us to reflect on trust.
In our daily lives, we listen to many voices—our own thoughts, the opinions of others, the
pressures of the world. These voices can sometimes confuse us or pull us in different
directions. But today’s Gospel calls us to center our lives on one voice above all: the voice
of Christ.
To believe in Jesus is not just to accept an idea—it is to trust Him. It means allowing His
words to guide our choices, shape our values, and influence the way we live each day. It is
a relationship, not just knowledge.
John also says something very important: whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. This
is not only about the future—it begins now. When we trust in Christ, we begin to experience
a deeper life, a life filled with meaning, peace, and direction.
But the Gospel also reminds us that we have a choice. We can accept His message or turn
away from it. Faith is never forced—it is always an invitation.
Easter is the season that strengthens this invitation. The Resurrection assures us that
Jesus is truly the One sent by the Father. He is trustworthy. He is faithful. And He leads us
to life.
So the question for us is simple: whose voice am I listening to? And am I allowing Christ’s
voice to guide my life?
Food for Thought: What voices influence my daily decisions, and how can I listen more
intentionally to the voice of Christ?
