JOHN 6:35–40 NEVER LOST, NEVER FORGOTTEN
Year A, Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter
Jesus says something deeply comforting today: “I am the bread of life… whoever
comes to me will never hunger.” But then He adds something even more
powerful—He will not reject anyone who comes to Him, and He will not lose anyone
the Father has given Him.
That speaks right into our fears. Because many of us carry a quiet worry: What if I
fail too much? What if I drift too far? What if I am not good enough?
We know our weaknesses. We try, we fall, we begin again. And sometimes we
wonder if God gets tired of us.
But Jesus is clear—He does not give up on us. He does not turn us away. His
desire is not to lose us, but to hold on to us, even when we struggle to hold on to
Him.
This does not mean we ignore what is wrong. But it means we face it with hope, not
fear. Because our relationship with God is not built on our perfection, but on His
faithfulness.
And that changes everything. We are not walking alone. We are being held, guided,
and gently led forward.
Question to ponder today: Do I truly believe that Jesus will never give up on
me—even when I struggle to stay close to Him?
