JOHN 6:30–35 STILL ASKING FOR SIGNS?
Year A, Tuesday of the Third Week of Easter
In today’s Gospel, the people ask Jesus for a sign. It almost sounds surprising—they
have already seen Him feed thousands. But still, they want more proof. More signs.
More assurance.
And honestly, that is very human. We also ask God for signs. “Lord, show me…
prove to me… make things clear.” We want certainty before we trust.
But Jesus shifts their focus. He tells them it was not Moses who gave the bread from
heaven—it is God who gives the true bread now. And then He makes a powerful
statement: “I am the bread of life.”
This changes everything. God is not just giving something—He is giving Himself.
Yet we often keep looking elsewhere. We fill our lives with so many
things—distractions, achievements, possessions—hoping they will satisfy us. But
deep down, the hunger remains. A quiet emptiness we cannot ignore.
Jesus speaks directly into that hunger: “Whoever comes to me will never hunger.”
Not because life becomes easy, but because we are no longer alone.
He is enough. But the question is—do we really believe that?
Question to ponder today: Where am I still asking for signs, instead of trusting that
Jesus is already enough?
