Mark 7:24–30 FAITH THAT OPENS THE DOOR

Year A, Thursday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time

In today’s Gospel, a woman approaches Jesus, pleading for the healing of her daughter. She is a Gentile, an outsider, yet she approaches Him with humility, courage, and deep faith. Though Jesus’ initial response seems difficult, she does not turn away. Instead, she trusts in His mercy.

Her persistence reveals a faith that crosses boundaries. She believes that even a small share in God’s grace is enough to bring healing and life. Jesus recognizes this extraordinary faith and grants her request.

This Gospel reminds us that God’s mercy is not limited. Faith opens the door to grace, even when circumstances seem discouraging. When we approach Jesus with trust and humility, He meets us with compassion.

We are invited to reflect on our own faith—whether we persevere in prayer and trust God’s goodness, even when answers do not come immediately.

Question to Ponder: How persistent and trusting is my faith when I bring my needs and struggles to the Lord?
