JOHN 17:1-11a HELD IN THE FATHER’S CARE

Year A, Tuesday of the Seventh Week of Easter

Today’s Gospel gives us something very personal—we hear Jesus praying. And what is beautiful is this: He is praying for His disciples, the people He loves and is about to leave behind.

Jesus knows they will struggle. He knows they will feel afraid, confused, and uncertain. So before anything else happens, He places them into the Father’s care.

That speaks deeply to our own lives. Many of us carry worries about people we love—our children, parents, friends, community, or even our own future. We try to protect everything and fix everything, but eventually we realize we cannot control life completely.

Jesus shows us another way: entrust people and situations to the Father.

He also reminds us that eternal life is not only something after death. It begins now through knowing God and living in relationship with Him. In the middle of ordinary life, busy schedules, responsibilities, and struggles, we are invited to stay connected to the Father’s love.

And there is comfort in knowing this: Jesus not only understands us—He prays for us. Even in our weakness, we are not forgotten. We are held in the Father’s care.

Question to ponder today: What worries or burdens do I still hold tightly instead of placing them into the loving care of God?

With Love and Prayers
