Mark 4:26–34 GOD GIVES THE GROWTH

Year A, Friday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time

In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of the Kingdom of God through simple images: seed growing quietly in the soil and a tiny mustard seed becoming a great plant. The sower scatters the seed, but the growth happens mysteriously, beyond human control.

Jesus reminds us that God’s work often unfolds silently and patiently. We may not always see immediate results in our faith, our efforts, or our prayers, but God is always at work beneath the surface. What begins small, unnoticed, or fragile can grow into something life-giving and strong in God’s time.

This Gospel invites us to trust. Our role is to be faithful—to sow seeds of love, kindness, and faith—while trusting God to bring growth. When we surrender our need for control, we discover peace in knowing that God’s Kingdom is unfolding, even when we cannot see it.

Question to Ponder: Where is God inviting me to trust His quiet work of growth in my life or in others?
