MATTHEW 14:13-21 PLACE WHAT YOU HAVE IN JESUS' HANDS

Year A, Monday of the 18th Week in Ordinary Time

In today's Gospel, the disciples see only a problem: a hungry crowd and only five loaves and two fish. It seems impossible that such a small offering could make any difference. But Jesus does not ask them to produce more. He simply says, "Bring them here to me." Once the little they have is placed in His hands, it becomes more than enough to feed thousands.

We often feel the same way. We look at our lives and think our faith is too weak, our abilities too limited, or our resources too small to make a difference. We may wonder what our small acts of kindness, our prayers, or our efforts can possibly accomplish. Yet God has never asked us to do everything. He only asks us to offer Him what we have with trust. When our little is placed in His hands, He multiplies it in ways we could never imagine.

Perhaps today's Gospel invites us to ask ourselves: What am I holding back instead of placing in the hands of Jesus? It may be our time, our talents, our generosity, our fears, or even our wounded heart. The miracle begins, not when we have enough, but when we are willing to trust Him with the little we have. If we place our lives in His hands each day, He will use them to accomplish far more than we could ever do on our own.
