MATTHEW 11:25-27 A HEART THAT IS OPEN TO GOD
Year A, Wednesday of the 15th Week in Ordinary Time
In today's Gospel, Jesus thanks the Father because the mysteries of the Kingdom have been revealed, not to the wise and the learned, but to the little ones. He is not criticizing education or knowledge. Rather, He is reminding us that God's love is received most fully by hearts that are humble, trusting, and open.
Sometimes we think we have everything under control. We rely on our own plans, our own wisdom, and our own strength. Without realizing it, we leave very little room for God to guide us. The "little ones" Jesus speaks about are those who know they need Him. They approach God with the trust of a child who knows that everything good comes from a loving Father.
Humility is not thinking less of ourselves; it is recognizing that we cannot live the Christian life without God's grace. The more we depend on Him, the more we discover His presence in our daily lives.
Perhaps today's Gospel invites us to ask ourselves: Do I approach God with the heart of a child or with the attitude that I can manage everything on my own? The Lord reveals Himself to those who come before Him with open hands and open hearts. Today, let us ask for the grace to become "little" in the eyes of God, trusting that He will lead us with His wisdom and His love.
