JOHN 15:9–11 STAY IN MY LOVE

Year A, Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter

Jesus says something very simple today: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.”

We all want to be loved. In daily life, we look for it—in family, friendships, appreciation, and acceptance. But sometimes that love feels uncertain. It depends on moods, situations, or expectations.

Jesus speaks of a different kind of love. A steady love. A love that does not change when we struggle or fail. And He invites us not just to believe in it, but to remain in it.

But how do we remain in His love? Jesus says, “Keep my commandments.” Not as a burden, but as a way of staying connected to Him. It is in the small, everyday choices—being honest, forgiving, patient, doing what is right—that we stay in His love.

And then comes the promise: “That my joy may be in you.” Not a temporary happiness, but a deeper joy that stays even when life is not perfect.

Question to ponder today: In my daily choices, am I staying in Jesus’ love—or slowly moving away from it?
