Mark 8:14–21 DO YOU STILL NOT UNDERSTAND?
Year A, Tuesday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel, the disciples worry because they have forgotten to bring enough bread. Even after witnessing the multiplication of loaves,
they are still anxious about their immediate needs. Jesus gently challenges them: “Do you still not understand?”
The disciples had seen miracles with their own eyes, yet fear and worry clouded their trust.
They focused on what they lacked instead of remembering what God had already done for them.
We can recognize ourselves in this moment. How often do we forget God’s past faithfulness when new worries arise?
We pray, we experience God’s help, yet when another challenge comes, anxiety returns as if God had never acted before.
Jesus invites His disciples—and us—to remember. Faith grows when we recall God’s goodness in our lives.
Remembering becomes a source of trust, helping us believe that the Lord who provided yesterday will also care for us today.
Question to Ponder: When faced with worry or uncertainty, do I remember how God has already worked in my life?
