Mark 6:7–13 SENT IN TRUST
Year A, Thursday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel, Jesus sends the Twelve out two by two and gives them clear instructions. They are to take very little with them—no extra food, no money, no spare tunic. Their mission is to depend not on their own resources, but on God’s providence and the hospitality of others.
By sending them out this way, Jesus teaches that the power of the Gospel does not come from possessions or status, but from trust and faith. The disciples are to proclaim repentance, heal the sick, and bring God’s mercy wherever they go. Their simplicity becomes a sign of authenticity and freedom.
This Gospel invites us to reflect on our own discipleship. We, too, are sent—into our families, workplaces, and communities—to witness to Christ. We may feel unprepared or uncertain, but Jesus reminds us that God provides what we need when we trust Him and step forward in faith.
Question to Ponder: Where is Jesus sending me today, and what do I need to let go of in order to trust Him more fully?
