LUKE 1:67–79 PEACE THAT STRENGTHENS
Year A, Wednesday of the 4th Week of Advent
Today we hear Zechariah’s song, the Benedictus, filled with praise and prophecy. After a long period of silence, Zechariah proclaims God’s mercy, faithfulness, and the peace that comes from salvation. His peace is active—it strengthens him, guides others, and points toward the hope of Christ’s coming.
Peace is more than a quiet feeling. It is confidence in God’s love and guidance, even when life is uncertain. Zechariah’s song reminds us that God’s peace equips us to live faithfully, to act justly, and to prepare the way for Christ in our own lives.
Advent encourages us to embrace this kind of peace—not only for ourselves but to share it with others, letting God’s Spirit guide our words, actions, and hearts.
Question to Ponder: How can I allow God’s peace to strengthen and guide me in preparing for Christ’s coming?
