LUKE 1:46–56 PEACE THAT RESTS IN GOD

Monday of the 4th Week of Advent

In today’s Gospel, we hear Mary’s beautiful song of praise, the Magnificat. Her heart overflows with gratitude, humility, and trust, and in it, we catch a glimpse of true peace. Mary recognizes that God is at work in her life and in the world, and she rejoices that His mercy and justice bring hope to the lowly and strength to the humble.

Peace, as Mary shows us, is not merely the absence of conflict. It is the deep calm that comes when we trust in God’s plan. Even amid uncertainty, fear, or great responsibility, Mary experiences inner serenity because she rests in God’s promises. Her peace is active—it is full of hope, faith, and joy, and it inspires those around her.

As we enter the final days of Advent and prepare for Christmas, Mary’s example reminds us that God’s peace can dwell in our hearts even when the world feels busy, stressful, or uncertain. Peace is a gift we receive when we surrender control, trust God’s timing, and allow His presence to shape our thoughts and actions.

May we learn from Mary to carry this peace into our homes, workplaces, and communities, trusting that God’s plan brings life, love, and harmony.

Question to Ponder: Where in my life do I need to let God’s peace settle so that I can prepare my heart for the gift of Christ this Christmas?
